Conceptual Object-Oriented Database: A Theoretical Model
نویسنده
چکیده
The evolution of object-oriented databases (OODBs) has not been accompanied by an equivalent evolution of theoretical models, leaving the foundations for OODBs ill-defined. Design of OODBs has been hampered by the lack of design techniques/tools which correspond to the theoretical model. This paper defines a core conceptual object oriented database (COODB) model providing a foundation and framework for theoretical research. Structural and behavioral definitions for an object, a class, and a class hierarchy are given. A specification hierarchy is introduced as a design tool, and a mess-aging component is defined which enables asynchronous and synchronous interaction .

Stack-Based Architecture and Stack-Based Query Language
Stack-Based Query Language (SBQL) is a model query and programming language for a wide family of object-oriented database models. SBQL is the result of investigations into a uniform theoretical and conceptual basis for object-oriented query languages integrated with programming capabilities and abstractions, including database abstractions: updatable views, stored procedures and transactions. S...
متن کاملModeling fuzzy information in UML class diagrams and object-oriented database models
Conceptual data modeling has become essential for non-traditional application areas. Some conceptual data models have been proposed as tools for database design and object-oriented database modeling. Information in real-world applications is often vague or ambiguous. Currently, a little research is underway on modeling the imprecision and uncertainty in conceptual data modeling and the conceptu...
متن کاملConceptual Modeling in Fuzzy Object-oriented Databases Using Unified Modeling Language
In real applications, information is often imprecise and vague. Exact information has become an essential part of modern database applications for making next generation information systems more human friendly. Fuzzy techniques have been widely used to represent such vague information in various database models and theories. Because of the efficiency of object oriented databases in handling com...
متن کاملFrom Conceptual Model to Oo Database via Intermediate Speciication
When designing underlying databases of information systems, data are rst modelled on conceptual level and then the obtained conceptual data model is transformed to a database. The focus of this paper is the transformation of conceptual models into object-oriented database systems. For a conceptual schema, consisting of an information structure and a set of integrity constraints , both the struc...
متن کاملAn Object-Oriented Design for the ACT ONE Environment
The overall aim of this paper is to stabilize and strengthen the algebraic speci-cation method to software engineering and development. We do not introduce new theoretical results, but deene a conceptual model, i.e., an information system schema, for the well-established algebraic speciication language ACT ONE and its accompanying speciication environment. This paper gives a formal description ...
